FOUR (4) YEAR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

REQUIREMENTS - INSTRUCTIONS - INFORMATION

PROGRAM AND ELIGIBILITY

The U.P.P.E.C., shall award two (2) $1,500.00 scholarship, two (2) $1,400.00 scholarship, two (2) $1,300.00 scholarship, two (2) $1,200.00 scholarship, two (2) $1,100.00 scholarship and five (5) $1,000.00 scholarships each year to fifteen (15) qualified applicants, who are members of the U.P.P.E.C., for one (1) year or more and in good standing and shall be eligible for only one (1) scholarship.

The scholarships shall be announced in the Spring each year for the following Fall and Spring semesters.

The scholarships shall be awarded to the qualifying applicants with the best scholastic records. Should tie situations occur, financial need and extra curricular activities, such as promise, leadership, and ability to work, will be taken into consideration by the Scholarship Committee,
acting as the Panel of Judges.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants either must be high school seniors completing the last year of college preparatory work at the time of application or have received a State of California High School Certificate of Proficiency with the current year.

Applicants shall meet all requirements set forth by an accredited university or college and must be planning to attend university or college full time, taking the regular program toward obtaining a bachelor's degree or its equivalent.

Applicants must have maintained a minimum of a "B" grade average overall for the last three (3) years. (Physical Education grades are excluded.)

NOTE: A = 4 points; B = 3 points; C = 2 points; D = 1 point.

All applicants are responsible for obtaining admission to the accredited university or college they choose to attend.

Applicants must submit U.P.P.E.C. Scholarship Application forms COMPLETELY FILLED OUT to the Scholarship Chairman, at the U.P.P.E.C. home office and attach thereto, supporting documents, together with transcript(s) of record; (Must include grades 10, 11, and first half of 12); two (2) letters of recommendation, one of which shall be from the Dean or the Principal and a glossy picture, size 2 ¼ X 3 ½ suitable for news printing.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS

No application shall be accepted after the final date of MARCH 15th, nor will it be considered if the required documents are not on file and the requirements met, as stated within these instructions and information.

All applications shall be considered as confidential and shall become the property of the Supreme Council, U.P.P.E.C. No applications and/or supporting documents shall be returned to the applicants.

SELECTION OF WINNERS

Selection shall be by a Panel of Judges appointed by the Supreme Board of Directors to consider and render a decision on the recipients of the Scholarship Awards. The decision of the Panel of Judges shall be final.

AWARDS

The applicants shall be notified during the month of APRIL.

The Awards shall be paid in full and deposited with the Registrar or Financial Aid Office of the respective university or college.

It is the responsibility of each WINNER to supply the office of the Supreme Council, U.P.P.E.C., with the name and address of the registrar of the accredited university or college, to facilitate payments.

TWO (2) YEAR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

REQUIREMENTS - INSTRUCTIONS - INFORMATION


PROGRAM AND ELIGIBILITY

The U.P.P.E.C. Junior District Committee shall award five (5) $500 scholarship grants in the Spring, to a youth member planning to enter Junior College in the Fall, immediately after graduation. Applicant shall be a member in good standing with the U.P.P.E.C. for one (1) year or longer. The scholarship grants shall be the sole responsibility of the Junior District Committee and will be awarded each year as long as the Junior District Committee provides the revenue for the scholarship awards.

The scholarship grants shall be awarded to the qualifying applicant with the best scholastic record. Should six (6)or more applicants qualify, greater need and/or curricular activities will be taken into consideration by a Panel of Judges whose decision shall be final. The Junior District Committee' shall appoint the Panel of Judges consisting of three (3) individuals.

REQUIREMENTS

The applicant must be a member of the U.P.P.E.C. for one (1) year or more and in good standing and shall be eligible for only one (1) scholarship.

Applicants must be completing high school requirements at the time of application for the scholarship grant and must have maintained a minimum of a C grade average in the last three (3) years.

NOTE: A = 4 points; B = 3 points; C = 2 points; D = 1 point.

Applicants must meet all requirements set forth by an accredited Junior College in the State of California. All applicants are responsible for obtaining admission to the Junior College they choose to attend.

Applicants must apply on the U.P.P.E.C. Application for Junior College Scholarship Grant form. Applications must be completely filled and attached to the following documents: Transcripts of high school record, two letters of recommendation, one of which shall be from a teacher or counselor of the applicant’s high school and a glossy picture size 2 ¼ X 3 ½ suitable for newspaper printing. All applications and attachments shall be considered confidential and shall become the property of the Supreme Council of the U.P.P.E.C. No applications and/or documents shall be returned.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS

Completed application forms with supporting documents must be sent to the office of the U.P.P.E.C. Supreme Council, 1229 B Street, Hayward, California 94541, and postmarked NO LATER THAN APRIL 15.

AWARD

The winner shall be notified during the month of MAY. The scholarship grant shall be paid to the Junior College by the Supreme Council of the U.P.P.E.C.

COLLEGE CONTINUATION SCHOLARSHIP

REQUIREMENTS - INSTRUCTIONS - INFORMATION

ELIGIBILITY

The applicant must be a member of the U.P.P.E.C. for one (1) year or more and in good standing.

The applicant must be a full-time student in an accredited university or college.

The applicant must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 system). Transcripts of grades must be submitted with application

AWARD

Five (5) $1,000.00 scholarships will be awarded by the UPPEC to sophomore-, junior-, or senior-year students in a 4 year college or university. A scholarship awarded to a student attending a 2 year college shall be in the amount of $500.00.

The scholarship awards will be announced in the Spring of each year for the following Fall and Spring semesters.

The scholarship awards are for one year only. Recipients will not be eligible again for the award from the U.P.P.E.C.

PROCEDURES

The applicant must submit by March 15th to the Scholarship Chairman at the U.P.P.E.C. home office.

The U.P.P.E.C. Continuation Scholarship application form must be COMPLETELY FILLED OUT and ATTACH thereto, supporting documents together with:

-Transcript(s) of record
-Award Essay
-One (1) Letter of Recommendation, which shall be from a university or college staff
-A picture approximately 2 ¼ X 3 ½ suitable for news printing
